Style: Techno
1. The Viking
2. Carlos
3. 7tine
Heiko Laux and Steve Rachmad come to SOMA Records with the Viking. The tracks blend the best of both producers; Rachmad's Detroit influence shaped with Laux's dynamic style.
The title track Viking, is led by a synth that sweeps in an almost hyperventilating rhythm that raising the track with a series of industrial ticks and clicks that flavour the German, Dutch and Detroit mix. A dark bassline leads the track into its climax where glitchy synths squeak and stretch before the track drops.
Carlos is a track that bounces with groove. Morse-like rhythmic bleeps carry the track cementing the individuality that is created in the EP. Awash with sweeping sounds, the track gains a smoother feeling of deep techno demostrating their delicacy.
7tine is a juggernaut with a dark, heavy rhythm, showing the industrial power of the pair's production. Flanged distortion scratching like fingernails give the track a tense edge, while simple yet powerful synths steer the EP into an eerie conclusion.
